What a cool die set this is! I always struggle more with creating masculine cards so when I came across this die set I thought it would be a great way to create some more masculine/boyish cards. This headphones die-namics set is from The My Favourite Things May 2022 vault release, although I have only just added it to my collection. It’s a small die set that only cuts out 4 separate pieces so it’s really easy to put together. I cut the the die pieces out several times from black and blue card scraps I layered some parts up to give some dimension and ended up with 3 sets of headphones.
Once I had put together my headphone I set about creating the backgrounds for my cards. I used a stencil that I have from Glitzcraft which had an equaliser on it, Mft do do their own version of this. I created 2 backgrounds using it and some blue Distress Oxide inks. I worked from one side to the other blending light to dark using tumbled glass, salty ocean, blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire at the Bottom of the card and then added some blue splatters. I finished my first card by adding a set of headphones towards the top at an angle and stamped ‘Keep on Rockin’ from the Keep On Rockin’ stamp set from MFT Stamps. I stuck it to a white card base, stamped another sentiment inside and that was it finished.
My second card was much the same although I trimmed it down slightly, used the ‘You Rock’ sentiment from the same Keep On Rockin’ stamp set and also added some black string that I found in my stash to create a ‘wire’ coming from the headphones. I really liked this addition, it adds another fun element. I added this card front to a blue card base which closely matched the blue in the headphones.
I used the last pair of headphones to create a card for my cousin who was turning 18. Firstly I used a stencil by Woodward Craft Collection called Worn Mesh and salty ocean Distress Oxide ink to create a bit of interest on the card front. I then used Big Bold Numbers by Stamp Market which I brought as a full set from Dies to Die For. It’s a great set that cuts a solid number as well as an outline so you can create many different looks with them. They have been a great investment set for me. I cut the solid number out of silver glitter card from Hobbycarft and the outline from black card scraps that I had, I also layered them up to give them some dimension. After playing around with the placement I decided on having the headphones set behind the 1 and slightly infant of the 8 however felt it needed a little something else. He is a gamer and I had a small controller left over from a previous card making session that fit perfectly no the front. I stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ from Little Birthday Notes by MFT Stamps.
