Gorgeous Winter Welcome Sled from Spellbinders

I know Christmas is over but this die set from Spellbinders was too gorgeous not to share and its also currently on sale! The Winter Welcome Sled die set contains several dies to cut the components to build not only a sledge but also a pair of ice skates and a poinsettia with foliage. I brought this set around Christmas 2022 but only got around to playing with it in October 2023.

Elements used on the card, sledge, ice skates, poinsettias and foliage.
Selections of sledges, ice skates and poinsettia.

I made several cards on and off over a few days, I started buy cutting lots of the components out of different coloured card scraps. I then set about layering up for the sledges and the ice-skates they all had two layers of card to give them a little more dimension. The poinsettias and the foliage are all single layered.

For the backgrounds I used either white card or a dark blue card from my stash. I used the Simon Says Stamp Filigree Snowflakes 3D embossing folder to give a little more interest.

The sentiments are from the Pink Fresh Studio Perfect Sentiments Holiday stamp set, they are stamped using Versamark ink and gold heat embossed using gold (951) from The English Stamp Company, I then cut them out with the matching die. This is a great stamp & die set as you can stamp and cut all 10 sentiments at the same time. I like to do several at the same time using different colours and have them along with the original Perfect Sentiments set in a jar on my desk for easy use. They also have a hot foil plate!

When creating my backgrounds I took one of the dark blue backgrounds and gently ran over my white pigment ink pad, this meant that the parts of the background that stood up took on the white colour. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it but once I added the sledge and cut the panel down a little to reveal a white border I loved the final result. As you can see from my finished cards you can use the set with or with out the ice skates. To add a little glitter I used my Nuvo aqua shimmer pen on the ice skates so they glisten when the card is moved.
