It may come as no surprise given the name of my blog that I have a love for bees! Well actually my whole family does really, which is why when I didn’t get around to using these super cute bees to create Christmas cards at the end of last year I decided to create a birthday card with them instead for my sister. I used the Clearly Besotted Bee Merry stamp set and the MFT Stamps Merry Bees-mas stamp set. The designer from clearly besotted is currently working with MFT so they are similar in design so easy to use together which is awesome.
I picked out one bee from each set that wasn’t obviously Christmas themed and coloured them with my Faber Castell polychromos colouring pencils. I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add polkadots to one of the presents and a black sakura glaze pen on the bees eyes, I also used my aqua shimmer pen on their wings to give them some shimmer. I already had a slimline panel that I ink blended before Christmas using distress oxide inks in Scattered Straw, Wild Honey & Spiced Marmalade, I decided to use the Clearly Besotted Hive of Activity Stencil over the top to add some more interest and add to the bee scene! I used the MFT Stamps Slimline Stitched Circle Trio to cut the circles all in one go.
I then decided to make it a shaker card so used Crafter’s Companion heat resistant acetate to create the window and some double sided foam tape to give the dimension needed to create the shaker element. I used some Nuvo Light Gold Hexagons confetti which I felt was perfect for the bees. The sentiment on the front is from the MFT Well Hello stamp set, its white embossed using Hero Arts embossing powder and cut out using the MFT Stitched Sentiment Die. I love the finished card so much!
