I told myself I wouldn’t be getting the September kit as I would hold for a Winter/Christmas kit as they are my favourite kind of cards to create & if I’m honest I don’t tend to make autumn themed cards. But then I saw the squirrels & I just couldn’t resist, I knew I would regret it if I didn’t get them, they are so darn cute & I’m totally in love with them. The other stamps also included in the extended kit are really lovely too and I can’t wait to play more. As I’m in the UK they take a little while to get to here & by the time they arrived autumn was almost over! Im thinking I may have to keep autumn alive a little longer just so I can really make the most out of this kit!
As soon as it arrived I knew I had to get on a create a card, I just needed to play with these adorable squirrels asap. I was tight on time so opted for a simple card to start with, of course using the Nuts for Fall stamp set. I picked out the leaf pile along with the single leaves & one of the squirrels that looked like it was jumping! I stamped & coloured them with my colouring pencils. I don’t think I have coloured squirrels with my pencils before and I have to say I really love the colours I ended up using I think they work really well together. Once coloured I cut them out with their matching dies which are also included in the kit.
My background panel is cut using the 3rd biggest of the Nesting Deckle A2 dies from Hello Bluebird. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background, I used blending brushes to add bundled sage for the grass area & speckled Egg for the sky area blending them together slightly when they met, I finished it by added some splatter detailing. All of the images are stuck directly on the panel & the sentiment I used is also from the same stamp set as the squirrel. I added foam to the back of the panel & adhered it to a coral panel which measures 3.75 x 5 inches, they are stuck to a standard card base with a blue 1 inch strip across the centre of the card base to tie it all together. I added some glitter to each of the leaves to give them some sparkle. I added another of the adorable squirrels & a birthday sentiment to the inside of the card and also to a salmon/peach coloured envelope. I love how this card turned out & could be an autumn card convert!!
